I want to go buy the current iWork suite, but if a new version is released with the new OS, is there a cheap upgrade path like there is for the FCP suite software? I suppose I should clarify that I would be buying with the student discount. I don't think there's an EDU version, so that shouldn't limit my upgrade ability.

Nope. There is no upgrade path to iWorks or iLife. You have to buy the full version again.

BGnR-There are some very powerful features buried in Pages and Keynote. Keynote is wonderful for for much more than presentations. It is great for pHoto slide shows and there are more effects than in iMovie.
....and this is from a guy that hated the day they ended Claris HomePage.
More info is at
Http://www.Empowermac.com and click on handouts for pages and keynote

I concur that there is a dearth of "word processors" geared more toward technical manuals...
Work forces everyone to use MS Office and half the time you fight the tool to get the job done.

It's really rude of you to point out flaws in a M$ product Mike. My grandma says if you can't say anything nice about somebody, don't say anything at all. That's why I never talk about "them".
