$15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - Psurfer - 01-24-2008 I'm paying 19.99 for the basic 1.5mbps speed. Last year I tried to get re-rated at a lower rate, but was told it was for new subscribers only. Now they're advertising $15.99 /mo w/no contract all over the place, and nothing in the fine print mentions it being only for new subs. Is it possible to get the penny-pinchers at ATT to lower your rate, or will asking only waste an hour of my life on hold? Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - C(-)ris - 01-24-2008 Cancel and then be a new subscriber tomorrow. Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - ho'ard - 01-24-2008 So does 19.99 get you the mid-level now? Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - Dennis S - 01-24-2008 My uncle said that happened to him and he argued long enough with enough higher-ups to get it back to $15. I would think telling them you'll use cable might help. Maybe, also, telling them you'll write the FCC. Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - troywellbuilt - 01-24-2008 Tell them you're calling to cancel. Once they send you to retention department YOU'RE in charge! Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - Kiva - 01-24-2008 threaten to cancel. i did that and they told me, "well, you'll be without service for 5-10 days" blah blah blah. I said "fine"..they changed their tune. kiva Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - AllGold - 01-24-2008 I don't think you need to do anything special to get that rate (actually $14.99 I think) other than call. It's their regular advertised rate, not a promotion. No contract required either. If they won't lower the price (can't see why they wouldn't given the above but hey) then cancel, or at least threaten to cancel. I just don't see why that would be necessary though. Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - Bill in NC - 01-24-2008 $10, for 768KB. Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - Psurfer - 01-24-2008 I just called. AllGold's right, it's $14.99 -for 768kb downstream speed, a downgrade from the "Express" 1.5Mb I have now for 19.99 They also told me I could downgrade, then upgrade back any time w/out penalty. Takes 1-2 days for changes to go into effect. I wonder if there would be any noticeable browsing performance hit for the $5/mo savings, other than when up/dnlding large files? For the moment I kept my 19.99 plan. Re: $15.99/mo? What do you pay for basic speed ATT DSL? - TLB - 01-24-2008 I have the "Pro" rated at up to 3.0Mb. I average only around 2.2 down and never get to 3, so I wonder if I should downgrade to the express package for the $5 savings. My current plan does qualify for ATT hotspot WiFi, but there are only 2 locations within about an hour of my house and not many more in the smaller cities I frequent. BFD. |
