I think this qualifies as a RYF: 4GB MacBook / MacBook Pro RAM $29.99 A/R free shipping - john dough - 10-04-2008 http://shop2.frys.com/product/5503990 As long as rebates don't scare you, this is SMOKING! I use Crucial RAM on all of my client machines and usually pay $75-$80 for these pieces. A GREAT deal, IMHO. Pete Townshend said it best: "Won't Get Fooled Again"... The rebate is from Crucial; I have no problem with Crucial rebates. Matter of fact, they are one of the faster processors of rebates I have seen. I have bought 3 Crucial products with rebates this year and the longest of them was a 6 week turnaround, from my mailing to receiving a check. Pete Townshend said it best: "Won't Get Fooled Again"... It's not a Fry's rebate, it's a Crucial rebate (In the 23 years that I've been shopping at Fry's I've never seen a rebate that was issued/processed by Fry's, it's always the manufacturer). I've purchased several sticks of Crucial RAM from Fry's with a Crucial rebate, and never had a problem with any of them, not even a phone call was required. Rebate arrived about 45 days after mailing it in. This thread got me curious so I checked the rebate status online, and it says that the $40 check was mailed Oct 2nd, so I might see it in today's mail. This is even faster turnaround than the other two Crucial rebates that I filed this past year. I always laser-print a letter that I enclose with the rebates that includes my Name/Address/etc that they ask for on the rebate form, in case they can't read that tiny hand written rebate form. I also write UPC in big letters with an arrow pointing to where I taped the UPC code to the form. And I make copies of everything that I mail. In my opinion the biggest cause of rebate problems are data entry errors (and not some conspiracy), so if you make it as easy as possible for them to enter the correct info, it improves the chances of things going smoothly. Online rebate submission eliminates this problem too (unless you make a typo). Years ago there was one rebate that I had to call on a few times because I never got the check but their records showed that they mailed it. After they sent a new check twice that I never received, I finally went through all of the contact info with them and we discovered that they had a typo in my zipcode and each time the check was being returned to them by the post office. |
