So long Blockbuster... - ztirffritz - 04-07-2009 http://www.macworld.com/article/139884/2009/04/blockbuster.html?lsrc=rss_main Blockbuster said it has “substantial doubt” about continuing as a “going concern.” Re: So long Blockbuster... - Michael - 04-07-2009 It's been years since I rented from Blockbuster. I'm not sure I ever rented a DVD from them, just VHS tapes. Re: So long Blockbuster... - Racer X - 04-07-2009 they keep making changes to their website, that makes it harder to navigate, and slower to load and refresh. The only thing they have over Netflix as far as I am concerned, is that I get movies in the mail early in the day, and if I am home, I can watch them, return them in store that afternoon/evening. They then get checked back in, and get new ones mailed to me the next day, and thus have 2 day turn around cycles. Netflixx would be 3 at best, and that is if I get the movies to the last pick-up at the Post Office at 5:45 pm. I'm the kind of customer thay hate. Re: So long Blockbuster... - OWC Jamie - 04-07-2009 :-) last time I was in a blockbuster, on the counter was a dozen of the new movies, just out in the new ' DVD format '. Be kind, just rewind. Re: So long Blockbuster... - AAA - 04-07-2009 Our BB B&M is always very busy. Busier than a Sears store that is about 40 times larger. Busier than 10 K-Marts. About as busy as nearby Starbucks. 1/100th as busy as Wal-Mart and McDonald's Hamburgers. Re: So long Blockbuster... - Racer X - 04-07-2009 I think that they just have too many stores. There are 5 within a 5 mile radius of my house. That's just wastefull. The closest to me has 3 registers, and maybe 2 in use at any given time. Up the staffing a bit, run 3 registers, and close every other location. Instead of having the DVDs 3 deep on the shelf, 4 or 5 deep to accomodate the higher volume. Re: So long Blockbuster... - NewtonMP2100 - 04-07-2009 . . .they also need better inventory control. . .sometimes they have a gabillion copies of a movie that not a lot of people will rent. . . Re: So long Blockbuster... - the_poochies - 04-07-2009 The Blockbuster by my house is always incredibly busy, especially after work. I work next to my local Public Library. The rentals there are FREE, although they may not have the newest or most obscure titles. Re: So long Blockbuster... - Will Collier - 04-07-2009 Golly, if only they had gone through with the Circuit City merger, just think of how well they'd be doing today. Oh, right. Never mind. Re: So long Blockbuster... - cbelt3 - 04-07-2009 BlockBusters are all gone in my area, and have been since late last year. Circling the drain.. |
