Blockbuster said it has “substantial doubt” about continuing as a “going concern.”

It's been years since I rented from Blockbuster. I'm not sure I ever rented a DVD from them, just VHS tapes.

they keep making changes to their website, that makes it harder to navigate, and slower to load and refresh.

The only thing they have over Netflix as far as I am concerned, is that I get movies in the mail early in the day, and if I am home, I can watch them, return them in store that afternoon/evening. They then get checked back in, and get new ones mailed to me the next day, and thus have 2 day turn around cycles. Netflixx would be 3 at best, and that is if I get the movies to the last pick-up at the Post Office at 5:45 pm.

I'm the kind of customer thay hate.

:-)

last time I was in a blockbuster, on the counter was a dozen of the new movies, just out in the new ' DVD format '.
Be kind, just rewind.

Our BB B&M is always very busy.
Busier than a Sears store that is about 40 times larger.
Busier than 10 K-Marts.
About as busy as nearby Starbucks.
1/100th as busy as Wal-Mart and McDonald's Hamburgers.

I think that they just have too many stores. There are 5 within a 5 mile radius of my house. That's just wastefull. The closest to me has 3 registers, and maybe 2 in use at any given time. Up the staffing a bit, run 3 registers, and close every other location. Instead of having the DVDs 3 deep on the shelf, 4 or 5 deep to accomodate the higher volume.

. . .they also need better inventory control. . .sometimes they have a gabillion copies of a movie that not a lot of people will rent. . .

The Blockbuster by my house is always incredibly busy, especially after work.

I work next to my local Public Library. The rentals there are FREE, although they may not have the newest or most obscure titles.

Golly, if only they had gone through with the Circuit City merger, just think of how well they'd be doing today.

Oh, right. Never mind.

BlockBusters are all gone in my area, and have been since late last year. Circling the drain..
