Ohio Consumer Rights? - chopper - 03-23-2006 Several friends and I are paid members of a large association based in Ohio, and we're fairly frustrated with the lack of communication and the actions of this association (200k+ members). They're basically taking our money and then stonewalling members. Wondering ... is there a consumer protection dept in Ohio dealing with associations and non-profits? Sorry that I can't articulate this situation better--tough to describe. Chopper Re: Ohio Consumer Rights? - TLB - 03-23-2006 Perhaps start here (or any other source for 1702 of the Ohio Revised Code) to see if anything applies to your situation. http://www.paperglyphs.com/nporegulation/ohio/ohio.html Re: Ohio Consumer Rights? - AlphaDog - 03-23-2006 Or, this site has an 800 number that might be useful: http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/consumer/index.asp Re: Ohio Consumer Rights? - michaelb - 03-23-2006 I would call the attorney general's office as linked by Alphadog. They are the obvious first place to call, and may likely have a consumer protection division. However, they may not be able to help you either, but may refer you to someone else. I doubt this is anything that anyone specializes in any state. Re: Ohio Consumer Rights? - elmo3 - 03-24-2006 You could also simply vote with your feet. You don't HAVE to buy a membership. If it's as bad as you say, no one will care whether you're a member or not. |
