Several friends and I are paid members of a large association based in Ohio, and we're fairly frustrated with the lack of communication and the actions of this association (200k+ members). They're basically taking our money and then stonewalling members. Wondering ... is there a consumer protection dept in Ohio dealing with associations and non-profits?
Sorry that I can't articulate this situation better--tough to describe.

Perhaps start here (or any other source for 1702 of the Ohio Revised Code) to see if anything applies to your situation.

I would call the attorney general's office as linked by Alphadog. They are the obvious first place to call, and may likely have a consumer protection division. However, they may not be able to help you either, but may refer you to someone else. I doubt this is anything that anyone specializes in any state.

You could also simply vote with your feet. You don't HAVE to buy a membership.
If it's as bad as you say, no one will care whether you're a member or not.
