MRF mechanics: Mazda bad blower motor? - the_poochies - 10-20-2009 The climate control blower in my 2002 Mazda Protege 5 is starting to die. Even on the full blast setting, the blower only delivers a weak stream of hot or cold air before finally kicking in after 10 minutes of driving. Other times - and this is happening with more frequency recently - the blower doesn't kick in at all. Does this sound like a problem with the blower motor to you? Is it an expensive or difficult fix? The only work I've been able to DIY on my car is to install a new car stereo in about 60 minutes. Re: MRF mechanics: Mazda bad blower motor? - Z - 10-20-2009 You might be lucky and it's only the resistor - http://mazdaforum.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-12473.html Re: MRF mechanics: Mazda bad blower motor? - cbelt3 - 10-20-2009 I'll second the resistor concept. I've had that happen in several cars- Japanese and US made. It's a common failure point in that design. Re: MRF mechanics: Mazda bad blower motor? - Rolando - 10-20-2009 My 2005 MPV has an air filter behind the Glove compartment. I cut to size an a/c filter and replaced it. That could be it! Much cheaper!! |
