MRF mechanics: Mazda bad blower motor?
#1
The climate control blower in my 2002 Mazda Protege 5 is starting to die.

Even on the full blast setting, the blower only delivers a weak stream of hot or cold air before finally kicking in after 10 minutes of driving.

Other times - and this is happening with more frequency recently - the blower doesn't kick in at all.

Does this sound like a problem with the blower motor to you? Is it an expensive or difficult fix? The only work I've been able to DIY on my car is to install a new car stereo in about 60 minutes.

You might be lucky and it's only the resistor - http://mazdaforum.com/forum/archive/inde...12473.html

I'll second the resistor concept. I've had that happen in several cars- Japanese and US made. It's a common failure point in that design.

My 2005 MPV has an air filter behind the Glove compartment. I cut to size an a/c filter and replaced it. That could be it! Much cheaper!!
