Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - Black - 04-10-2010 Heading to see a movie this evening and approaching things backwards-- there's a new theater in the south Loop I've been wanting to try, as it's now my closest venue; -- any clear winners among the following? I've seen none of them . . . not much for animation or action films unless they have actual plots. Thanks! # Alice in Wonderland 3D Sat 10:45 am, 1:30 pm, 4:30 pm, 7:15 pm, 10 pm # Recommended Avatar 3D (PG-13) Sat 11 am, 2:50 pm, 6:20 pm, 9:55 pm # Clash of the Titans Sat 10:15 am, 12:50 pm, 3:20 pm, 6:15 pm, 9:10 pm # Clash of the Titans 3D Sat 11:15 am, 11:45 am, 2 pm, 2:30 pm, 4:45 pm, 5:15 pm, 7:30 pm, 8 pm, 10:15 pm, 10:45 pm # New Date Night (PG-13) Sat 10:40 am, 11:10 am, 11:40 am, 1:15 pm, 1:50 pm, 2:20 pm, 3:40 pm, 4:20 pm, 4:50 pm, 6:05 pm, 6:50 pm, 7:20 pm, 8:30 pm, 9:15 pm, 9:45 pm, 11 pm # The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (NR) Sat 12:15 pm, 3:50 pm, 7:10 pm, 10:40 pm # Greenberg Sat 11:20 am, 2:10 pm, 5 pm, 7:50 pm, 10:20 pm # Recommended New Hot Tub Time Machine Sat 11:50 am, 2:40 pm, 5:10 pm, 8:15 pm, 10:50 pm # Recommended How to Train Your Dragon 3D Sat 10:30 am, 1:10 pm, 4:10 pm, 6:40 pm, 9:20 pm # The Last Song Sat 10 am, 12:40 pm, 3:45 pm, 6:45 pm, 9:40 pm # New Why Did I Get Married Too? The 3D is an enhancement and not the raison d'etre for the movie. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - JEBB - 04-10-2010 We just saw North Face; frightening but well done. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. I left wondering how they shot the film. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - dad@home - 04-10-2010 We saw How to train your dragon (2D) and enjoyed it a lot. Dad Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - IronMac - 04-11-2010 Avatar is good...Clash is very middling. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - iaJim - 04-11-2010 If you haven't seen Avatar, it's worth it for the effects if nothing else. I think the story is engaging, even if it isn't exactly new. I'd like to see it again, and there are no other movies on that list that I'd give much thought of seeing other than Alice. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - what4 - 04-11-2010 In Alice, is Johnny Depp still playing that character from Pirates of the Caribbean, or has he developed a new one here? It was interesting once. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - rgG - 04-11-2010 what4 wrote: Depp definitely does not play Cpt. Jack Sparrow in this film. Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - Black - 04-11-2010 Thanks, all . . . the only one that seemed to be a contender was the Dragon Girl and my friend already saw it. Ended up seeing a 3-hour documentary about life in China called Ghost Town. Like watching paint peel, but in an enlightening way . . . Re: Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec? - wave rider - 04-11-2010 Go back for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," very good suspense/mystery movie. =wr= |
