Yo frequent filmgoers-- rec?
#1
Heading to see a movie this evening and approaching things backwards-- there's a new theater in the south Loop I've been wanting to try, as it's now my closest venue; -- any clear winners among the following? I've seen none of them . . . not much for animation or action films unless they have actual plots.
Thanks!

Alice in 3D is great, especially if you like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton's "unique" style, which I do. The 3D is an enhancement and not the raison d'etre for the movie.

We just saw North Face; frightening but well done. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. I left wondering how they shot the film.

We saw How to train your dragon (2D) and enjoyed it a lot.

Avatar is good...Clash is very middling.

If you haven't seen Avatar, it's worth it for the effects if nothing else. I think the story is engaging, even if it isn't exactly new. I'd like to see it again, and there are no other movies on that list that I'd give much thought of seeing other than Alice.

In Alice, is Johnny Depp still playing that character from Pirates of the Caribbean, or has he developed a new one here? It was interesting once.

Depp definitely does not play Cpt. Jack Sparrow in this film.

Thanks, all . . . the only one that seemed to be a contender was the Dragon Girl and my friend already saw it. Ended up seeing a 3-hour documentary about life in China called Ghost Town.
Like watching paint peel, but in an enlightening way . . .

Go back for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," very good suspense/mystery movie.
