CR just did an article on printers. MR folks generally will not read those.

Be aware that the printers available on-line are not the same as are available in the stores. I found this out when we went shopping for my sis-in-law's new iMac. The store only had HP's.

The Epson will be cheaper to operate, the cost-per-page of color printing is cheaper based on a similar model shown at http://www.qualitylogic.com/Contents/Lib...pp-US.aspx -- also you can replace one color at a time instead of having to replace the entire 3-colors whenever you run out of one, that also would make the HP more expensive to operate. The trade-off is that the Epson is slower. I also read that the Epson won't scan if you've run out of ink... I haven't been able to determine whether or not the HP is the same there.
