Those are gorgeous photos, your son has a good eye. Love the colors. The maples in particular.
Japan is something of an enigma to me, would love to visit sometime. My son will travel there for 3 weeks this summer, with his Japanese teacher and about a dozen other students from his school.
We hosted a Japanese student from their sister school in Osaka, and my son's trip will include a home stay with that family.
Will share your son's photos with him.

Drew, I took some relief supplies to Kobe immediately after the ' 95 quake. Been living in Japan since '81, Showa 56. I've been about everywhere in Japan, from Okinawa to northern Hokkaido, many times. We are more at home in Japan than America now. Let me go check that link, I normally don't do links. But will with this one.
Those are good. Funny how I don't notice much since it's all become so common to me. Good to see things through new eyes! Kyoto, eh? Car tag says Kyoto. That sushi is my favorite kind - onigiri, tuna.

Hi Gene,
Thanks for your hard work to help after the earthquake!
Yeah, most of those shots are Kyoto, Kobe, Osaka, maybe a few in Tokyo. We live in Nishinomiya, conveniently halfway between Osaka and Kobe. My wife (now passed away) grew up in Kyushu.

Thanks all. He's an artist. From childhood was constantly drawing. I bought him an SLR a few years ago and he's gone crazy. He and I can shoot the same scene at the same time, same conditions. I come away with snapshots, while his images are interesting and moving. Because of his intimate knowledge of Japan, he's taken some unique "non-touristy" shots I think. I'll post some more in the future.

He's just capturing what he feels. What moves him.
