And sorry, I have no memory of the pic Obama took nor of the circumstances surrounding it except to note that at the time, Obama was not really criticized for any part of that. At least not credibly.

i found those pics earlier today. one is of Obama crouching down surrounded by a group of smiling children. two others were of him gently cradling and smiling with an infant. NONE of those pictures were taken by official WH photographers because the Obama administration did not want the scene to come off as a photo op. ALL of them that were published were phone photos taken by family members and publicly posted on their personal social media accounts. i remember the twitter account for one of the infant pictures posting that the late mother would have been so proud and touched that Obama was there.

Obama's moments showed a respect and sensitivity to the victims that is completely lacking in 45's exploitation of this tragedy.

I agree completely. And those family members of the victims of the most horrible violence had every right to say they supported the President without being bullied or attacked online by his political adversaries. Doing that in a moment such as this is beyond decency.
