An all rubber hose should last longer but they are about twice as much. I would say to get a mid grade priced hose in whatever store you go to on a regular basis, or you could try to wait for a sale.
On the high end, Sears has Gilmour Flexogen for $44 and Home Depot has Goodyear for $38.

I know that you refuse to shop there, but Costco carries decent hoses for about $20.
And go to Stoneway Hardware for the hose end. And marvel at their massive racks.....of fasteners. They proudly proclaim that they are "FastenNerds"

We go the cheapest one Target had. I know... but I didn't really know the differences.
The hose is leaking past the point where the washer goes. That I know how to deal with (I've already bought replacement washers.)
The hose is really stiff, the wife has been getting more and more into gardening so I'd like to get her a hose that's not such a PITA too.
I think I already knew what the issue was before I posted, and how to fix... but I figured I'd post anyway. I'll probably check the maple leaf Ace and/or Stoneway hardware. I'm fine paying a bit more as long as I know the hose is going to be good.

I made it up.
Just wanted to use the word "hose" twice in a sentence.
An homage to the overuse of the "hosed" complaint in reference to software or hardware.
My (fill in the blank) got hosed!
Don't use any hoses near your computer! Of course it got hosed. Leave the hose outside in your yard where it belongs!
And don't try to reboot a hose!
