Mark Buehrle pitches perfect game
#11
I was lucky enough to be in attendance at Dodger Stadium when Kevin Gross threw a no hitter. Pretty cool. Like a playoff game.

And this is his *second* no-no!!! Is he the oly one to do that?

A no hitter and then a perfect game, never done before. In fact I thank there are less than 15-20 perfect games in all of baseball history. Wow!

Sometime back when Mike Mussina was pitching for the Orioles, I saw him pitch either six or seven perfect innings, I can't recall now. It was electrifying once I realized what was happening. I almost cried when the opposing team finally got a hit.

I'm pretty darned jealous of the fans in that stadium today.

Don't be. Most of them left and of those who stayed only about half knew what the hell was going on. I was 16 and skipped school to go to the last game of the season. A really pretty girl caught my attention in the seventh and that's when I mentlly left the game. Later Ted Williams hit his last home run.

I had no idea until after that I could have been witnessing history, I was way too involved in trying to make history. I was 16 so of course I missed either witnessing or making history. The witnessing was gone forever, the making would have to wait another year or so.

I love to see a great pitcher - plus the pace of the game is so quick!

Sorry to hijack the thread - I believe that Mussina had a perfect game into the 8th inning against the Indians. IIRC - it was the catcher that had a clean OF hit. I remember the crestfallen feeling as I was watching on TV. Also I was in attendance the night Eddie Murray hit his 500th HR (not when he hit it though)- we had kids with us, a 2 hour rain delay that we just could not sit all the way through on a school night. Heard it on the radio on the way home! Crap.

You know there's a smiley for that. :-)

And Tampa Bay is still in the wild card race...
