It's only a 5900 rpm drive, but that would be okay for backups.

Did they mean 5400 rpm.? Was 5400 rpm a typo?

meh. Tiger Direct doesn't have the best track record when it comes to rebates. And Seagate is no longer the golden child in the hard drive world.

Well like I said, for $30 it would a good deal, assuming the rebate goes through. Regardless of brand, having a spare 1TB drive around is not a bad thing.
