Not to knock the Kingston, but the SATA III speeds are about 70% of the models that are dropping as well. Still faster than mechanical drives but you need to know what you are getting.

I found the specs here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820139951

Give it time and the faster SSDs (over 450MB read and write) will be below $250 again.

The Sandisk looks REAL nice and may be a good drive for a laptop where you want to carry around everything with you.

yup, the quality of SSDs seems to vary more than HDDs at the moment.

Not all of us have 6GB/s SATA connections. The SATA III speeds are fine for many. But I do agree that people need to know what they are getting.

In face the next drive I want to get is for a SATA I machine.

This drive is very popular, faster and only $40 more;

I set one up in a MBP last week and it made a HUGE difference (vs the mechanical drive). Even if you don't have a SATA III connection now, you will be covered if your next machine does and you want to bring your SSD.

When I posted, it was available again (maybe only for a short time).

The point is that the deals are getting better every day. When I hear of them, I will pass them on with a RYF!
