[cars] leather cracking prevention
#1
anything you folks do to your car seats to keep them from cracking?

I'm not going for concours-level detailing here, simply want to preserve the interior in its current decent condition.

I use Lexol Cleaner and Conditioner

So far so good with my '02 Beetle's leather seats. It is garaged so the UV exposure has been limited.

1) Pay to have the best window tint installed that blocks UV (most don't) and has higher heat-rejection (most don't, even if they appear to be "limo black.")

2) Do the Lexol dance early and often, not after the car's 5 years old and the leather's already getting dry.

3) Related to #1 above, if and where you can garage the car, do so.

Leatherique is the best leather rejuvenator and preservative. You'll need both of their products...rejuvenator oil and prestine clean leather cleaner to do a proper job. That and keep the interior cool and out of the sun. A car cover does wonders, those windscreen and window shades help some.

I move mine to a more hospitable climate. That and garaging works every time.
