Was just going to ask if there are any decent Printer Deals.

Inkjets are great, and have come a long long way since crazy clogging Epson 7XX series. But that burned many people to forever hate inkjets.

Ive got a couple of Canon MP780s that still run solid 6 years later. They sit for some time. Takes generic ink a little over a buck a piece. Still print perfect.

Added the Brother 835 months ago, needed something wireless and Airprint ready. It rocks. Already on my first set of generics -- less than 75ยข each -- running great.

Inkjets can and do run great.

BW lasers have their place. I have an old HP5000 that I use for really long BW projects and it cranks them out without a hitch.

Art -- Doesnt look like the 430 will do it. My 835 does.

and Ken is right, it looks like all the brothers are being updated = new carts ? generics

825 and 835 will print DIRECTLY to optical media (no label needed). There is a special tray. Many years ago Epson was the only company that did this, I heard they had a patent or something. You had to hack a Canon model to achieve the same. I think the patent expired since now you can get a Canon or Brother with out of the box support for CD-DVD Printing.

The 825/835 are identical except for the decal on top, it seems 835 is a model specifically made for Best Buy so they don't have to price match other retailers.

625 is also very good, I think it is missing the CD/DVD function, otherwise it has the same functions like 825/835.

the lower end 430 I think does not have auto document feeder and of course no CD/DVD

I installed a 825 to my teacher friend, she needs to bring the cost down, that HP was draining her wallet ($70/month). I hope she can stay below $20/month with this brother. That's gonna save her $400-500 per year!

now I am tempted to get a 825/835 for myself but no one has those on sale anymore Sad
