Heh! I just love all the comments. Thanks for all the suggestions and humor. I ordered a live trap from Amazon last night. I'll try that technique first. I already tried the gopher gassers down the holes, but I suspect they just ran for the alternate exits.

Speedy, I can't leave the spiders alone. Last year I eliminated the two light poles at each end of the barn and replaced with 6 new, smaller HPS lamps attached to the building. What a mess! The lights attracted bugs, and the bugs attracted spiders. I had webs covering all 26 doors, plus the light fixtures, and there were bug guts all over the doors to boot. Tenants, as well as I, were disgusted by the mess. Also, when I was sweeping the webs off, the spiders were jumping to the nearest point of safety, which was my head! Not pleasant!!

We used to have groundhogs where I grew up. But we also had two dogs. It takes two to kill a groundhog, one in front, and one behind. The dogs would hang out on the front lawn, and then see a groundhog up in the orchard, and take off in a flash. Eventually, they got most of the 'hogs.

If the holes are away from the barn, you could use the old gasoline trick. Pour gas down the hole, and light it. You'll get a nice bang, too.

Meanwhile, here's Homer and Jethro:

They are reputedly good to eat. Nice and fat.
