Can I still download a copy of Mavericks?
#11
I've been making USB thumb drive installers ever since physical DVDs stopped being available. Now, if I can just remember where I put them.

TechToolPro had a software deal that had multiple 10.x installers that were loaded onto a USB thumb drive too.

I believe that it was on the new laptop, so I never dl it, sad but true . . .

I need a copy to update the old computer that is still on SL, then at least I would have a working computer in case yosemite screws everything up!

Have you tried logging into the App Store from the old Mac w/SL using the login used with your new Mac to see if Mavericks shows up under Purchases?

Are the OS download "DRMed" like the apps?

Can someone give their copy of an OS to someone else, or is it tied to your Apple ID?

It should still be in your purchased section at the Apple Store

My understanding is that it is tied to the Apple ID.

Not the same way as other stuff from the App Store.

If you make a stand alone installer vol from the "Install Mac OS X Mavericks" app then you can install on any qualifying Mac with it.
