Fritz, there seems to be an important piece of information missing. When you expressed "all things equal" you didn't mention distance. Some took this to mean that the new place was closer to home.

If the distance is the same and the quality, as well, I would certainly stick with a friend. OTOH, if the new place had a better product, that would influence my choice.
