Speaking of autos and lights

Total hasty generalization. A driver that uses their blinker is no better or worse than one who does.

So if I signal my intention to cut you off thats ok? Or if Im in the middle lane and use my signal to cut across 3 lanes thats ok cause I signaled first?

Again, you assume (wrongly) that Im the kind of driver that just weaves in and out of traffic, makes turns from the middle lanes and causes general mayhem on the road just cause I dont use a blinker as often as I think necessary.

But if I said -- "just kidding, I use it all the time" somehow I would be a 100X better driver the instant I typed that sentence

And as a bonus I would be welcomed with open arms to drive in Europe, I wouldnt have to be hunted down and killed and never get t-boned.

Do whatever you want jdc but someday when some big goon redneck comes pulling in behind you like they did
me, when I was a teenager, for not giving a signal and and threatens to kick your ass it might make you
think twice about it. It happened to me when a friend ran out of gas and I was taking him to get gas and
he said, "turn in here" and I did because he gave me like a 1/2 second warning to turn, That's when I got
the shit scared out me. They were yelling something about not giving a signal and I was trying to get their
kids killed because they had to slam on brakes or something. It's kinda stuck in my head even after 40
years. It was the most scared I've ever been while driving.

This kind of thing right here is why I try to be courteous on the road and try to make sure those around
me know my intentions. It was trending just now on FB.

Road rage fight and crash caught on camera in TX 5/16/2016.

Sweet story Grateful, but just to clarify (again to everyone) I dont drive like that.

You can bet your life that if someone like that (sounds like a tailgater, a huge peeve of mine) was that close to me and I had to turn, then I would signal

You are rationalizing your behavior with a false assumption. All other things being equal, a driver who follows the laws IS a better driver.

No one has said or implied any such thing.

Huh You don't use a blinker as often as you think is necessary?

Now you're just being ludicrous. "100x"? :RollingEyesSmiley5:

LOL -- just kidding everyone, I use it all the time. My kids often tell me I use it too much.

For sure. But I'm guessing that's a typo.

A signal is confirmation of intent. It really helps when you're making a mistake. You do make mistakes, right?

A turn signal is a declaration of intent, not a "confirmation".

Two lane highway; one lane in each direction. A car coming from the other direction has slowed at an intersection ahead of you with no turn signal on. What is his "intent"?

Without his turn signal "declaration" of his intent, you have nothing to "confirm". Is his intent to turn to his right which has no effect on your progress, or to turn to his left, directly in front of your path?
