If you don't want to listen to citations around the US, try checking out gun regulation and gun murders in culturally divergent countries like:

1) UK

2) Australia

3) Canada

Oh right - they HAVE regulations of semi-automatic weapons, AND generally stable democracies, and even support far right loony leaders like Mr Johnson.
