I don't know what I would do without The History Channel.

[quote h'][quote PeterB]... with the writers' strike, it seems this is about only the watchable thing on TV! All these reality shows really bite (no pun intended)... am I the only one who can't stand this stuff?
So what are you watching right now? At the time I made the original post, they were having some sort of documentary about the history of Jewish Americans in the U.S. Interesting bit about the 1945 winner of the Miss America contest, I knew nothing about that (before watching).

I don't want to pay the extra $50-70/mo. If I could just pay for the channels I want, that would be one of them.

I must have 100 hours worth of new shows on my Replay. No time to watch but they are there.

There are rules requiring cable companies to offer a la carte pricing for additional channels. But they do their best to hide those options from customers in favor of package pricing.

At the time you posted they were showing a history of television chapter about game shows; the show you describe was scheduled to come on afterwards. I was a bit confused by the game show chapter-- all the info I can find says it was new from 1977 but I could swear half the people they interviewed are already dead. Plus, the background music during the interviews was entirely innapropriate. I enjoyed the one about early sit-coms a lot though.

Every night at 10 I watch Firebrand: 60 minutes of entertaining commercials uninterrupted by any tedious reality shows.

If you lived in a really big city, your local PBS station schedule might be a little more flexible, like this:http://www.wgbh.org/schedules/daytv
I live out in the burbs so I get those two programming choices plus WSBE36 (R.I.PBS) :-) Are you set up to switch between WTTW A and D ? that would be convenient if the scheduling is different. (I don't think any of the PBS stations here have gone Digital)

3 PBS stations here.
That way I can watch Huell f'n Howser do a show on cottage cheese, a bridge, and his solo trip to Australia all at once.

You forgot the time difference. ![]() I missed the later one about game shows, did sound interesting. |
