The advantage to the ones I recommended is that there's a metal or plastic loop on one end and you wrap the velcro strap around whatever you want secured, pass the end through the loop and bring it back on itself to stick. Thus the pressure to undo is transferred to the plastic loop; not the hook and loop.

And that's exactly why my search is still on for the kind you describe! I'm surprised at the number of places that don't carry them, including my trusty Ace Hardware. I thought they had at least one of everything in the world in that store.
