Best OS 9 Utility to recover files from hosed disk?

TDM doesn't require the computer to boot from the internal drive. It works essentially the same as booting from an external drive except that it requires you to connect a second computer via the Firewire cable. TDM is handled in firmware before the computer boots up and bypasses the normal boot up sequence.

I don't expect that you'll have success using TDM if you have already failed using an external drive, but you might have better luck than before if the problem is not limited to the hard drive.

Using TDM, the 2nd computer you are using can be running any operating sytem and any choice of software to diagnose the firewire-connected drive. This may open up some more recovery options for you.

Data Rescue (finally) saw it via TDM, and has been chugging away for almost 18 hours, says its got a few minutes left until results... am reformatting a couple of flash drives for data recovery... fingers are crossed...
