Also, it still creeps me out that Apple doesn't recognize the serial number QT110265JF8.

Congratulaions! Soon the sex will be legal Wink

I'd give him a positive, you are pretty happy with the machine, right? You could make a note in the explanation as to what was not right.

I had a similar situation regarding a projector. I left him a positive feedback and e-mailed him regarding the issues that I found (like the front leveler was broken off, and he didn't mention that.)

Yeah, overall I'm happy with the machine-but I did want something faster, with a burner, and a power supply that was going to last. There were others ending at the same time for about the same price that may have had accurate descriptions. I was considering writing to him before leaving feedback(wasn't going to leave him a negative or anything-just wasn't sure what I should say. I'm disappointed to some degree-it isn't what he said it was. Regardless, we've welcomed it into our family.

I'd let him know that the description DID NOT match what he shipped. No burner, slower processor, and although damage to the cable wasn't noted, it should have been. Ask him to knock of x% from the selling price.

Congrats on the engagement, and double congrats on making a convert in the process!

I emailed the guy and said that while I will be keeping the machine, I was disappointed in the three major areas where it differed from what I was supposed to get. He replied that this was his first sale and the last thing he wanted to do was be dishonest... didn't know what he was doing(though I can't figure out how hard it is to list info from 'about this mac' or its serial number-did he guess?)and said he'd help however he could. I wasn't sure how to proceed so checked the cost of a new power supply and asked for $25 or so back-I bet I could have gotten more but I'm not much of a jerk. I am lucky in that she didn't need a burner terribly badly(I have one and she is not going to have many files), the speed is adequate, and the now-duct-taped cable is holding up so far(it looks like if you breathe on it it will fall apart).

I hope I handled that correctly! I haven't left feedback yet but plan on leaving him a positive if he gives me some money back. That'll make it enough of a bargain that I can't complain at all about the transaction.

Thanks, though the engagement and the Mac conversion aren't connected per se! He just sees how much we enjoy our Macs and fell in love with using them himself.

We are making crazy progress on planning the wedding-in a lot of areas, we are at the 'what to do at 8 months out' part of the bridal timelines those magazines in theme(and we have 15 months to go).
