You are thinking of the Aluminum Intel iMacs. I assume his is a white one which had great video. Echo that. Second monitor looks like crap compared to 20" white iMac screen. Would still buy an external with the same panel if I could be sure, and could find one.

For $900 you could buy a mini, sell the iMac for parts and use that money for a new 20" LCD.
