So, I'm on FaceBook. My new Android also easily lets me link to a Twitter account, which I don't have. Do I want one?-gc

I signed on to Twitter for work and managed 17 tweets before I was twittered out. Doesn't take much banal yada yada to make you feel like a nittwit. Didn't even last that long posting on FB. Dislike.

The key to Twitter (IMO) is to tweet sparingly and don't expect anyone to read it or see it or care about it. Lower the expectation and you won't sit there and proclaim it totally stupid. It's not that big a deal necessarily. It's not about letting everyone know you're going to the store right now, etc.

Then, when one of your followers sees something from you come along it actually is a better read because you've already filtered out the rest. Or it's obtuse and they think, "hmm, what?" and move on.

The "social" there is more one-way (again, in my opinion) than many perceive it is "supposed" to be. Little broadcasted things of semi-interest. Not a FaceBook-style engagement.

For humorous tweets it's hard to beat @badbanana (Tim Siedell). See also http://favrd.textism.com/ for a taste.

Yes, for sure. It will go perfectly with your Android phone.

How much time you have to waste?

I have a twitter account but it's not very exciting for me. the people i "follow" are doing things which are incomprehensible because i don't look at the darn thing everyday. And what i do see and understand is, here's that word again, pretty banal.
