That is really a shame. I have two upgraded ReplayTV 50xxs with the auto commercial skipping. I've sort of moved on a bit with my mac mini hooked to the TV. With eyeTV, the functionality of the Replays is duplicated (and I even have an auto commercial skip (comskip) plugin. However, The Replays are sooo much easier to use and the Zones search function was priceless. There's nothing on the market today (TiVo included) that comes anywhere close to the functionality of ReplayTV. Best DVR ever, by a long shot!

I upgraded my lifetime 5040 to 250GB.
Loved the buffer that was only limited by free space (as opposed to Tivo's 25 minute buffer)
However, I long ago relegated it to a relative's house, since I went OTA-only with Tivo (won a TivoHD w/ lifetime years ago)
Guess I can't complain - got 7 years out of it for under $200 (got lucky and bought during the pricing change)

I have a 5040 that I was paying $7/month and a 5505 that had lifetime (courtesy of the pricing error from years back). Both were upgraded to 160 GB drives. We used them until about a year ago. With the digital transition that Comcast made (separate from the OTA digital transition), it was difficult to use the ReplayTVs. I had them hooked up so the kids could watch the collection of shows that I had previously recorded for them. Now, they mostly watch shows on On Demand, so the ReplayTVs got turned off.
ReplayTV was arguably the best technology of the day, certainly better than Tivo. I haven't been on AVSForum website in a while, so I'll have to check it out and see what others are saying. I never did the WiRNS setup.

That sucks. We still have a Replay in our guest room that my wife records a lot of stuff on... we have it networked to another one in the living room.
Great technology for its time, a far better device than Tivo had. Damn shame they weren't able to keep going to an HD version.
