G4 1.33 iBooks not a hot item

They are worth about $1k for the 1.67 G4s.

$650 sounds about right from a reseller, they always offer 30 or 40% less than the market, just like car dealers with your trade in. It covers their overhead for getting it ready for sale, and selling it... oh, and a nice profit too.

when will people learn...

never start an auction for a popular item for anything more than $9.99, use 'featured plus', write a good auction and you will get top dollar.

Never make the starting bid so high - you scare away most of the bidders.

for evidence, search the sale of ALL recent 1.33 ibooks, sort by sale price and observe why some get good money and some dont.

put FREE SHIP in the auction title. since so many gouge on shipping, you may get bids that others don't.

i know i'd pay more attention to that.

ebay no longer lists the starting price, which was a nice indicator.

The starting bid shows up if it ended as a regular bid-up auction item. If it ended with a Buy-It-Now it doesn't show up anymore.

Do you have the original box and paper work? What size is the display? I'd put on
there with either a very low starting point or a low starting point, a reserve and a
Buy-It-Now close to what you want. I've sold every Mac on eBay over the years
with a Buy-It-Now and a reserve. You have to put the reserve in there or the
Buy-It-Now disappears with the first bid low bid. You can start real low with no
reserve but if you have a soild number you have to get to you're taking a gamble.
If it's really is a hot item you won't have to worry about it going to what you
want. I start a lot of stuff at .99 and sometimes I'm blown away by how high it
goes. I like to do this with hot items because it more fun to watch. Starting way
too high is a bad idea as 'hal' said.

OT: Note on Shipping

As far as shipping gouging, it's not gouging if aren't forced to pay it like gas
gouging, you know what it is ahead of time. If shipping is too high on
something go on to the next item. If people are too dumb to not factor in
shipping on an item that's their fault. I personally try not to make money on my
shipping but sometimes it happens if an item sells to someone nearby. Shipping
cost have recntly gone way up. I recently sold several Players Guides and had
them listed with $4.00 shipping, well the guides went sky high and Media Rate was like
$2.00 and Priority was like $4.20-$5.70. I supplied the padded envelope and I
don't charge handling or supply fees. I made so much off of them I bit the bullet and sent
them Priority even though I lost money on the shipping but I got high praise for
getting them there so fast and in tip top shape. I put my players guides and rare
magazines in a plastic bag, sandwich them between to layers of cardboard and
tape around the edge and then put them in a padded envelope and mark it
"do not bend".
