Powered by USB or wall power. Very handy in hotels to avoid having to configure multiple items to a new network.
For sure it doesn't have the AirPort's slick ease of use -- actually, it's a configuration nightmare the first few times -- but once you get the hang of what it's supposed to do it works well for the $15 I paid for it.
