Need some new tunes- what are YOU listening to??

eMusic is subscription only- but you can subscribe month by month. I do this, even though it is more expensive than an annual subscription. I have no idea why- there is always plenty of music that I want. It usually takes me less than 20 minutes to browse and find 40 songs. Last month, all industrial...this month, all weird blues along the lines of Gun Club. I have discovered some real gems during my time with them- the aforementioned Gun Club, 16 Horsepower, the Embarrasment, as well as fleshing out some of my selections from well known bands like the Fall, Black Flag, Green Day and (of course) The Pixies and Bauhaus.

I like Magnatune.

All of their stuff is released using the Creative Commons license. Also, you get to determine the price that you want to pay, anywhere from $5.00 to $18.00

You get to download it in all formats that you would like, from uncompressed wav to mp3 to AAC. It's quite an eclectic range, I've mostly purchased classical music from them.

Oh, and you can listen to the full albums/full tracks streamed, not just 30 sec - 1 min samples.

I'm completely stuck on a new band, Clear Static: http://www.clearstaticmusic.com

Their music takes me back to the 80s. They're great guys too.

It's funny, I'm listening to something other than Duran Duran today Smile
