Very confused on which to keep

I was researching the very question comparing MBP/MBA earlier this year when my Santa Rosa MBP failed = that is, until Apple replaced the motherboard free of charge.

I came to the conclusion that a MBA plus a thunderbolt dock is what I would want in a machine.
