A better and more intelligent option would be to catch it, transport it then release it into the wild  It's been done. If killing wildlife as a means of prevention then wouldn't it better to eliminate them all?

Kind of a dumb ass remark, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Nothing about capturing and transporting the cat is more intelligent. Certainly preserving the cat's life is more desirable.

But Dept. of Fish and Game advised to put it down as there was not time for an alternative.

Now, if you can explain why Fish and Game was incorrect, above and beyond any personal bias and conjecture, that would be of interest.

Now IF they would have left it in the tree and it mauled someones Poodle or child. Everyone would have been pissin and moaning about that.

And when people have been attacked and/or killed, there are those who can't wait to post "Kitty's gotta eat" and "we took their land" and imbue some kind of entitlement upon the cat to hunt people.

The cat came out of the tree. Let it go and if somebody else pays the price, that's ok?

It always amazes me that people who have little to no experience in an area are able, without actually *knowing* the facts of a particular situation, seemingly *know* what should have been done.
