how do I clone a Win 7 drive?
#1
can do it with an external, or use an internal drive that I have laying about. I've not researched this at all, so I'm asking on that basis to give me an idea of where to look for SW and direction. tx.

Is it an OEM drive? What brand, product, and model? What version of Win7? OEM can be a lot more complicated due to special partitions. I was using a Win8 Lenovo that has 4 freaking tiny partitions and would not let me swap a drive in and install Win7 or Server 2008R2 because the BIOS needs special partitions before it would even boot to the BIOS screen. :banghead:

do you want to use a Mac application, or a bootable CD/DVD?

WinClone Pro from Two Canoes (for Mac)

Clonezilla (open source CD/DVD)

this is on a Win 7 machine, and not a hackintosh (sadly).

waitaminnit: do you mean to imply that I could remove the drive and use my MBP to clone this?
