Does anyone else think the Snowboard Cross is insane?

Were you ever able to do any of the tricks that the olympians have done? I'm betting you didn't have the level of grace required to accomplish those types of movements. The woman who won gold in the women's bordercross showed a ton of grace in her ability to fly over the smaller series of jumps without losing speed or crashing.

Grace is defined as "simple elegance or refinement of movement." You're going to tell me it takes no refinement of movement to take a board down a half pipe, spin in the air, and continue momentum into the next trick?

Whether I can do those tricks is not the point..is it? Not many can do any of the things people do in Olympics..that's why we love to watch them do these things.

My lack of grace is not the point, either. I could be a total slob but have an incredible eye for "grace". And I do.

I can't see any grace in any of the various forms that these Snowboard athletes display during the stunt-only events (halfpipe)...because they're all swimming in their HUGE baggy clothes.

If the figure skaters wore stuff like this we wouldn't have a clue as to how they looked during their stunts..

MY suggestion was that they should at least get them into a suit that complements what it is that they are doing...to showcase it more effectively.

from MAvic:

Im going tell you that it does require refinement..just more of it and with better presentation

Im also going to tell you to lighten up because you are taking this way to seriously...

I'm firm believer in the idea of the Olympics sports having a historical antecedent of some sort. hunting, transportation, war, package delivery in record time. Ice Dancing is a good example of a sport that qualifies nicely. Snowboarding isn't.

Weren't you just ranting a few days ago that you don't like the judged events?

I hate judged events and I don't like figure skating very either. Once in a while someone cmomes along in figure skating, someone who doesn't put on stupid costumes and skates very athetically and I can watch..otherwise it's basically me lunging for the remote with my hand over my mouth n puke squirting through my fingers.

Since when does figure skating have a meaningful historical antecedent??

It was JOKE, comrade!!!! Joke!!
