If you're looking for a fun car at a good price, check prices in your area on slightly used Infiniti G37s. I'm seeing them as low as $22,000 for three to four year old samples with less than 30,000 miles.

Yep, I'd do this :agree:

Fun to drive, not to own...

I recently bought my own VW after much research and selection. I am very picky. My thoughts are that the VW line has problems with mechanical reliability and I would avoid them, except: the diesel versions are much better. It seems that they have developed an extremely nice engine and drive train to go with it and nobody else is close. I love my Jetta wagon and routinely get about 40mpg with regular use. I get over 500 miles out of a tank of gas and it is fun to drive. I bought a used model (2011) and it was not that cheap, but that is because they are holding their value very well and for good reason I think.

The only VW I would consider owning would be a diesel variant. Even then, I'm still a little iffy on the prospect.

I am very eager for the diesel Mazda6 and CX-5 to make their way to America.

I'll dump my two Diesels when they make a Diesel hybrid.

I'd say go for it if it had a Diesel or was a hybrid.

but he said "fun to drive" and is looking at a 200 HP GTI...

Don't underestimate modern turbo Diesels.
