I wouldn't stand on that if you offered me a million dollars. Dear Lord.
See what happens when you re-name the SEARS tower?

How long until the story about the lawsuit brought by the guys in the box when it crackled?

What you talkin' 'bout... Willis?
It's the Sears Tower, and no number of marketing goons are going to change that. But they do try. Locally, we have two institutions- one, the Concord Pavilion, the creation of Carl Jefferson, the founder of Concord Jazz, and designed by Gehry. No amount of renaming has changed this, and it is once again known as the Concord Pavilion. The other is the Oakland Coliseum. It is now officially known as the O.Co Coliseum. That's even on the Freeway exit signs. Only Marketing drips and suck-up Sportscasters call it that. There is a bit of folklore about boats- you never change the name unless you have a very good reason. Sometimes, the name is the only part left; witness the succession of "Virginia" ferries in Washington State. The "Virginia V" is still around; it's always had that name. The "Virginia VI" had a succession of names, and its current whereabouts are unknown; supposedly it's hiding out in Alaska under an assumed name. Eustace |
