Battery recall--so now I have a very fast Mac Plus
#51
Elmo3, you've outdone yourself this time.

there are some people that, no matter how hard you try, you can never please.

Elmo3 is one of them.

what a freakin' baby! my daughter handles disappointment better than you and she's 6.

Yes, not being able to do "iPhoto stuff" in a car for a few weeks is surely going to traumatize your wife. Do you even comprehend the difference between "weeks" and "years"? Jeebus what a fucking whiner. You would rip someone a new one if anyone else posted crap like this. Hypocrite.

Just let us know when you receive the battery. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised on the turnaround...and if so, will you share it?

Remember...you-are-not-alone in this recall.

Deal.

As I said, I can only hope that Apple subscribes to the theory of underpromise and overdeliver.

And honestly, it's not that this is in any way an impossible situation. I'm just throwing up a counterpoint here; everyone realize that if this were a Dell product, you'd all be hooting and hollering about the poor sap who got stuck with a Dell.

Well, it happens with Apple, too. Next time it happens to someone not Apple, to someone who makes Windows machines, we can all come back to this thread and remember the advice and compassion that the people here are CAPABLE of giving with regard to a company and its customers when stuck in this situation.

I'd hope, then, that these same people would offer the same advice and compassion to that next company and its customers--and not hoot and holler and ridicule and call names just because it's a manufacturer of Windows boxes.

Except that this very same thing just did happen to Dell, and I didn't exactly see everyone here jumping around in glee when the news broke. The majority of people who posted about Dell's battery recall realized it was a Sony issue, and I'm sure more than a few people realized that if Sony was having issues with batteries they made for Dell, that the very same thing could happen to Apple. Most people here are cognizant enough to realize that the computing industry is highly interconnected, with certain manufacturers making certain components for pretty much every computer maker out there.

There's a value to devil's advocacy, but perhaps it would be more effective if it wasn't exercised in the guise of the very kind of whininess you normally profess to despise.

Bingo. The hooting and hollering started to gather a bit of steam, and then people realized--hey, Apple could be involved in this very situation, we'd better shut up.

But it shouldn't just be the fact that Apple is involved in the very same situation because of a supplier to make people not hoot and holler and ridicule.
