Southern folks - need bird ID

It's a heron for sure.
We had a HUGE blue Heron poach all our fish from our pond.

Same thing happened to us, unfortunately, way up north here. We have a little (roughly 2 x 4 foot) fishpond that we have (basically dimestore) goldfish in, and on Mother's Day about 6 or 7 years ago, my sister-in-law, who was visiting, got up early and saw it standing in the pond, just reaching down and calmly snapping them up, one by one, like fish in a barrel pond.

Now we keep netting over the pond until the water plants get moved in, typically in May. The replacement (dimestore) goldfish we bought (after the heron) are now like 6" long, nose-to-fin-tip. Tough little buggers.

In New Iberia Parish? I believe that's called the Hot Sauce bird. He puts it on everything.
