Mail won't accept password or quit

This forum thread suggests that POP email was disabled and IMAP is now the only way to connect.

...And I mis-read one of your posts. It's not only the SMTP setting that's failing.

It's worrisome that you're apparently using POP email settings while they appear to have disabled POP email quite awhile ago.

I think that you need to call support and tell them that your POP email setting is no longer working. You need to confirm that you still have an email account with them, and if they have, in fact, disabled POP email then you need to get the incoming and outgoing server-settings for IMAP email.
