hmm, I can see donating the GPS at Goodwill. Good point, although the nearest one is in an area that is less safe for my comfort.

The FPGA programming kit would make no sense to donate to goodwill, they have no idea what that is.

we have a local FB group that gives away stuff. I've received a ton of stuff and given away lots (although the incoming to outgoing ratio is still skewed at the moment); it's one of the few reasons I still look at FB. but, we have a tight community for the most part and no one is afraid of venturing to one part of the city from another, and you have to do it by your real name and give out your address in a private message.

time vs money

How much, realistically, do you expect to make $$ on selling these things?

Compared to how much time is needed to take photos, create listings (id do BIN as well), box (cost of box?), drive to UPS/USPS... and whatever else Im forgetting vs drop it all off at goodwill.

My wife has struggled with that. In the past she was selling stuff she inherited from her mom (who had a small antique store) for almost nothing. Years ago I stopped telling her that her time was worth more than that because she just didn't care. But I'd rather she sit next to me reading than being upstairs packing something she sold for $5. I've given up on telling her that but she's gradually coming around. Last year we itemized for taxes and so she gave away a ton of small stuff to the Salvation Army. She's selling far less now and most has at least a modest value.
