Had a '73 Opel Manta and loved it dearly. Quality German engineering on a budget, vastly supeior to the piece o'crap Mazda RX3 that I later endured.
New Opel car - gorgeous.

![]() there is a guy in the Buick Gran Sport club with a Buick 455 in one of these. Since it was sold through Buick dealerships, we let him race at the nationals. I have always loved the look of them. very nimble cars if a turbo buick 6 is in one too.

I had an Opel Cadet back in the 70's and just loved it! Great car. Easy maintenance, good gas mileage and stylish. Mine was orange with black pin striping. Fond memories.

didnt they have manual flip headlights?

That new Opel is nice looking. I'll agree, it is a bit overscooped, though.
Childhood/h.s. buddy of mine had a bright orange '74 Opel GT similar to the one above. It was kind of a fun car; the retractable headlights were manually operated. I always got a kick out of that.

Doesn't opel have some good performing diesel engines too?
As far as the looks of the cars, I think by the time a car is made crash-worthy and aerodynamic, it's going to look similar to everything else. Not to mention platform sharing, that must restrict the shape of cars to some extent. Also, I'm having a hard time getting used to the tall front-ends on new cars. It just looks odd to me. kj.

Lots of funny observations. Same first impression here, too. :-) |
