His wall doesn't match the background as closely as it did in Rober's video.
He also did not test the manikin part at all. And no, you would not be likely to encounter a perfectly painted wall. Rober didn't tell you to throw away your Tesla because it failed his extremely unlikely scenario. OTOH, LIDAR wasn't fooled at all. Which is safer for unlikely edge cases?

So if you make the wall badly enough the car can tell it's there. Who would have expected that?

The person behind heavy fog was a real world scenario, if you've ever seen youtube videos of cars smashing into each other on a fogged-in highway.
