Looking for a heavy magsafe base
#11
I want it to stay put when I lift the phone with one hand.

I feel ya.

d4's suggestion is the first thing I've seen that would easily fit the bill.

I've gone through the same thing, and haven't found anything that would work well.

For the time being I got a basic BYOMSP stand.

Then I cut a silicone adhesive dot in half, and put it on the stand 'supporting' my 'Phone when it's in place.

This allows me to 'drop' the 'Phone on the dots and let it get sucked onto the MagSafe puck, with zero effort every time.

It also allows my to pull the top of the phone forward while holding the stand in place, all with one hand.

Takes a bit of practice, and not my ideal of an ideal stand, but it works for now.

The other thing I considered is placing some non-ferrous metal, plastic, or wooden spacer between the puch and 'Phone.

Not too thick, some were around <4mm.

The idea is the grip would be less making release easier.

I don't know if there'd be any deleterious effect beyond more heat and slower charging.

So I'm sticking with what I've done, till something better shows up.

I like the looks of that second base, but the 'Phone likes flat, and I'd want to be able to glance at it at night.

The puck should be raised a bit to get one's fingers behind the 'Phone so as to pop it off the stand/base.

Whether the base is heavy enough to stay put or not, a tight enough grip on the 'Phone to raise it.

There's not much to grip if only the edges are available.

We've got an Anker Soundcore Wakey (in white) that works well, but I don't think they're making 'em for the USA market anymore....

$55, Best deal on ebay.....

Wireless speaker, charger, radio, alarm clock, white noise, etc.....

Good luck.

Got this one back in 2023, $26
Wireless Charger, Mag-Safe Charger+20W USB C Adapter, Fast Wireless Charging Stand/Pad with 5ft Cable for iPhone 15/14/13/12 Series

Could always place a book or weight on the bottom part.
Not flat, tho, It holds your phone at about 60 degrees.

Ok, you prefer flat.

I assume you don't need to read the 'Phone, you just want to set it down and pick it up?

Given what I've seen on AMZ, I'd go with something like d4 showed.

The MagSafe grip is formidable, even the MagSafe-like pucks grip surprisingly well, meaning a heavy base would be needed, to just lift a 'Phone off the puck.

So get a small wood base as in above.

Have a rounded groove cut into the base parallel to each side of the phone.

They should be wide enough and partially under the phone to allow your fingers to grasp the phone as you normally would, popping loose from the puck.

Or have the puck elevated 3/8" or so above the base.

Again, normally grabbing the 'Phone should pop it loose without disturbing the base.

I think elevating the puck might be harder to accomplish.

First World Problem, I know. Yes, I think the finger-pry method will work, as long as the base has the right shape and just a little bit of its own heft.
