hah...ug, i'm having a bad day.

I helped a forum member with a similar problem the other day. On the dd-wrt router, go to administration -> factory defaults. restore factory defaults.

not sure what the problem was exactly but this fixed it.

Too late to the conversation here I guess. Peter, I had the same issue as you at the very beginning. For anyone else's future reference, make sure on your network port configurations in the network preference that ethernet is at the top of the list. Otherwise, be sure to turn your airport off before trying to connect to the router. Once I got everything set it just took a few tries to get the timing right. Then like mattkime said, reset to factory defaults. It doesn't take you back to "factory", but back to dd-wrt standard settings. That turned all of my ethernet ports back on.
