Supposed to have 6M down and and at least 384K up.
"Comcast speed tiers range from 4.0 to 16.0 Mbps download speed (maximum upload speed from 384Kbps to 768Kbps respectively)."

I get:
Download Speed: 2400 kbps (300 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 725 kbps (90.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
with Verizon DSL. Very happy with it at $30/mo. Especially after the free upgrade from 1.5/256.
You won't ever get the advertised speeds. It's like expecting to get full USB 2.0 speed. It's just the theoretical maximum.

Well, according to your quote "Comcast speed tiers range from 4.0 to 16.0 Mbps download speed (maximum upload speed from 384Kbps to 768Kbps respectively)."
You are getting the full download speed and DOUBLE the estimated upload speed.
The numbers you are getting are about what I would expect on my new plan, with 2Mb upload.

Blu, you're using the wrong numbers.
Yes, your provisioned speed is 6M/384K. That is 6Mbits down and 384Kbits up. Divide by 8 to get bytes and the advertised speed is 750KBytes / 48KBytes.
Hey, I like to bash Comcast as much as the next guy but your actual speed is smoking fast! It's because of Comcast's Powerboost.

Yes, I have found nothing wrong with the actual internet service that Comcast provides me. It was the initial setup and customer relation experience that to this day makes me mad.
They LIED to me, THREE times. They wasted over 10 hours of my time. I was only refunded $20 for all that. Their technician did not install the HD service correctly, in fact they didn't even come with an HD box the first time, and I was waiting for so long that I just did the modem install myself which they charged me for anyway.
Further, I came to realize that they were charging me more money than the cost of services greater than what I was receiving. So I was able to increase my service AND decrease my bill at the same time by calling them up about that. So nice of them to help me out.
Hopefully Verizon is better in all aspects.

mike, keep us posted. I've wanted to switch to FIOS for a long time, but they're not available on my street yet.
As usual, I was wrong with the numbers. Guess it's not too bad after all, even though it's ComCraps.
